Are You, (Or is Someone You Know), Living With HIV?

Would You Benefit From A Time Of Reflection, Sharing, Prayer And Fun, At The Benedictine Douai Abbey?

‘Positive Catholics’ are inviting people living with HIV, to join us for our annual weekend away. This will be an opportunity to reflect upon what HIV means in the context of Christian faith, with others, living with HIV.

‘Positive Catholics’ is a peer support network of catholic men and women living with HIV, meeting together for mutual support, prayer and fun, since 2004. We are especially keen to encourage women, to join us for this weekend.

The monks of Douai Abbey, near Reading, have kindly agreed to offer us hospitality, in the comfort of the Benedictine Retreat Centre, from teatime Friday August 1st – Sunday afternoon August 3rd.

Our chaplain Fr. John Sherrington, CP, will lead us in prayer and reflection.

We shall be considering how living with HIV has affected our relationship to self, others and God. Through sharing stories, using art and music, and praying together, we hope to understand more clearly how God is present with us, and shares in our experience of life with HIV.

We are particularly pleased that we will be able to welcome adults with children, in family friendly accommodation. We also can accommodate people with mobility needs in adapted rooms.

The cost per person is £112.00 However bursaries are available for any person who is unable to meet the full cost. Full ‘room and board’ is provided, and Douai Abbey is easily accessible by train, bus or car.
